Tools & Inspirations

Here I would like to reserve space to acknowledge sources of help and inspiration as I continue to develop these pages toward their long-term targets. The snapshot illustrates several monumental works on the Lahu language by James A. Matisoff, field linguist, teacher and historical comparativist without peer, and first among those who inspire me to pursue Web presentation of my own modest research efforts. In due course, I expect to combine both print and electronic entries into a classified bibliography that will account for the currents of thought and technical accomplishment that have contributed to whatever success my pages may achieve.

For the present, let me offer grateful thanks to Candy Schwartz for showing the way, in thought, word and deed, to a meaningful set of Web pages; to Stuart Kiang for undertaking a complete and painstaking renovation of my workstation in preparation for this initiative, and for catching many of my errors; and to Bill and Mary Anne Stewart for their inspired work on the design and production of Swell to Great, a collaborative project recently concluded which has naturally led to a great unfinished conversation on matters of design and technical realization.

These pages were produced using HomeSite 4.5.2 and Jasc Paint Shop Pro Version 7.00. Candy's resource on character entities, Index of HTML 4.0 Character Entity References, has proven essential for finding that pesky little cedilla (ç) and macron ( ¯ ) without which the effect of the information concerned would have been much reduced.
